Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Honourable Docherty Welcomes All to Igbo Day of Arts and Culture in Saskatchewan
As Igbo Day of Arts and Culture 2019 draws closer on August 3, the Speaker of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly Honourable Mark Docherty has sent a written message of support to the Igbo Cultural Association of Saskatchewan (ICAS), wishing everyone a “Happy Igbo Day!” and thanking the Igbo community of Saskatchewan for sharing their culture and making Saskatchewan better.
“This work creates a more diverse cultural landscape and heritage for Saskatchewan, which amplifies the meaning behind our provincial motto "From Many Peoples Strength," Honourable Docherty wrote.
On behalf of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Honourable Docherty thanked ICAS for promoting lgbo Nigerian-Canadian culture and enhancing the cultural fabric in Saskatchewan through language, arts and community awareness.
“Organizations which promote integration, and preserve heritage are vital to the settlement and progress of newcomers,” Honourable Docherty said.
